Does my child's IEP address the behavior that resulted in the suspension?

Reviewed by Dr. Elizabeth Long, Ph.D. — Director of Special Education, 32 years in public education.

Look at your child's IEP and determine whether it identifies:

Behavior as an area of need

Behavioral goals

Positive behavioral interventions and supports

Accommodations related to behavior

A Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP)

A Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA)

Specific staff responses to behaviors

Supports designed to prevent the behavior
